I cannot remember a time I didn't write poetry. Suddenly, about 7 years ago, my words burst onto canvas, and I have enjoyed every minute that they have guided my hand. I use rich colors because they are what I feel when I am engulfed in the earth's palette. I call my art "affectism." I believe no learning occurs without emotion and that art is all about learning, so art and emotion are indelibly linked. I am an optimist; I hope my art speaks loudly of what can be, what should be and of the endless possibilities earth provides. My most recent paintings are encased in my book Moments from the Side Yard which includes poetry that speaks to moments of energy that move people to places they have not planned. I want my art to encourage people to look deeply and lose themselves in moments and entice them to think new thoughts, see through new lenses and find joy in the simplicity of life's color.
I am a native Arizonan and have traveled extensively throughout the U.S.. My inspirations come from both the sights I see and the people with whom I engage. Spending time with my family inspires my optimism.
